About Lake Mohawksin

ON THE WATER

Lake Mohawksin is a nearly 2,000-acre lake that derives its name from the three rivers that feed into it: the Somo, Tomahawk and Wisconsin rivers. Known as a successful fishing spot, Lake Mohawksin is home to muskie, smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, crappies and bluegill. Each year, fishing enthusiasts catch trophies up to 50 inches long in Lake Mohawskin, which hosts professional and amateur tournaments, like the Wisconsin Muskie Tour. If you want to explore new waters, Lincoln County has 726 lakes and 246 streams, including 318 miles classified as trout sreams.

With miles of water, Lake Mohawksin is an ideal boating destination, whether you prefer a kayak or a pontoon. As one of Northern Wisconsin’s best-kept secrets, this lightly traveled lake is never congested, meaning you’ll have all the space you need for recreation. Lake Mohawksin is also home to 17 islands and has a pristine, protected shoreline, giving it a distinctly Northwoods flavor. And, unlike other local lakes, the water level remains constant throughout the seasons.

If you prefer to swim, you’ll enjoy the lake’s naturally sandy bottom and four public beaches, many with shallow areas for children. Some beaches also offer playgrounds, picnic areas and volleyball courts.

In town, you can dock at Aquatic Arts and pick up bait or cruise down the lake to Tomahawk Sports Center to rent anything from a ski boat to a canoe. When you’re ready to take a break, you can dock at Dairy Queen for a treat and walk into town for a bite to eat at a local supper club. Stroll down to Memorial Park for the free Kwahamot Water Ski Show, or watch the show from your boat on the lake.

Whether you¹re looking for a recreational haven or you just enjoy the scenery of a true Northwoods lake, you¹ll love living on this nearly 2,000-acre lake.
